Dr. Edward Gonzalez is the Director of the General Development Office in USAID Macedonia. He is a political scientist and has worked with USAID since 2009. Prior to Macedonia, Dr.Gonzalez served as USAID's Democracy and Governance Officer in Pakistan, Guatemala, and Afghanistan. He has particularly expertise and interest in local governance, empowerment of women and youth, community-led development, private-sector engagement and improved monitoring and evaluation methods. Dr.Gonzalez received his Ph.D. in 2009 from the New School for Social Research in New York City, and focused his dissertation on Political Clientelism in Latin America.
